Forever Lauren ❤
Hi everyone my names Lauren and i’m currently a junior at University of Houston.
I’ve always been natural, my mother never allowed me to get a perm, but I pressed my hair since middle school and the damage I did was horrible. I decided to wear my hair curly twice first the summer of 2011 and after struggling on what to do with my hair and getting sick of braids I started pressing it again at the start of 2012 and then decided to try this natural thing again September 2012 so i’m back on track now haha. I originally decided to go natural because my hair just could not take being pressed any more, I had more plugs than I could count and my hair was way too thin so I thought i’d give my hair a break while rockin my natural curls.
When I first started, before I started pressing again, I had really negative feedback. I didn’t know what to do with my hair and neither did any one around me and nothing I was doing was working so I would wear it in braids and things but that was getting old so I went back to heat.
I’m a protective style-a-holic so my current regimen is keeping it up during the week then letting it down for the weekends then back up, or a month long protective style. I think i’m in the 4a-4b range but I can never be sure that’s just what i’ve been told lol. My starting length was about neck length and after cutting off all my heat damage i’m a ways under armpit length, but shrinkage will never let me know it, my goal length is under boob after that i’ll be happy.
I’m a shea moisture junkie always so my favorite conditioners are all of theirs from the pink, yellow and black line. Favorite shampoos are Creme of Nature Sulfate Free and Shea Moisture Purification Masque I use as a cleanser. Favorite styers are shea butter and Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz.
Forever Asia: Thanks again Lauren for sharing your story! I totally love your tumblr url lol along with your amazing damn curls! 😀 Your progress so far looks great! I’m sure you’ll be “under boob” length in no time haha xD
Happy Hair Journey!
